1. Duplicate the sequence, and work on the copy.
2. Optional: remove color effects (right-click › Remove Attributes) and turn off graphics tracks.
3. Select the sequence in the Project panel.
4. File › Export › Final Cut Pro XML, then save it next to your project.
5. Drop that .xml on the Check tab.

Roundtrip reads Final Cut Pro 7 XML (the format Premiere exports). It doesn't read .prproj, FCPXML, AAF or EDL yet.

Issues are individual problems. Clips are the shots that carry them. A speed-ramped shot with a color effect is 1 clip with 2 Rebuild issues. On the timeline each clip takes the color of its worst issue, and a small pip for every severity it carries, so a red clip with a yellow pip also counts under Check.

Some issues belong to the whole sequence (audio in the XML, too many video tracks, start timecode). Those show above the timeline and have no clip.

1. The colorist renders from Resolve's Deliver page with the Premiere XML preset (individual clips, with handles). Resolve writes an XML next to the renders.
2. On the Check tab, switch to Return. Drop your cut (the XML you turned over, or your current cut if you've recut since) and the return.
3. Start with Rebuild: shots missing from the return, graded files that don't cover the edit, shots cut in at different frames, and color effects that came back on top of the grade.
4. Send the fix list to the colorist (PDF, or Resolve markers for their timeline).
5. When it's clean, save Premiere markers from the Hand-off tab and File › Import it. It comes in as the returned sequence with a marker on every flagged shot. To carry the markers to your own sequence, turn on Markers › Copy Paste Includes Sequence Markers and copy across.

Titles and graphics don't come back from Resolve, so lay yours back from the cut; the return check leaves them and audio out. The color of the graded files (for example a gamma shift in Premiere's viewer) isn't in the XML, so check a few shots by eye against the colorist's reference.

1. Import the XML into Resolve and relink the media.
2. In the Media Pool, right-click the timeline › Timelines › Import › Timeline Markers from EDL.
3. Choose the markers .edl from the Hand-off tab. Red = Rebuild, yellow = Check, blue = Info. Your notes are in each marker's text.
